Asurion is protecting the planet—one device at a time

From keeping tech out of landfills to reducing our packaging, we’re creating a more sustainable future for everyone.

Earth Day - Asurion Practices

Technology has transformed our world, but all this innovation comes with enormous responsibility. The decisions we make about our tech can have a major impact on the planet we share.

Take electronic waste. It contains carcinogenic chemicals that, if not collected responsibly, pose serious risks to human health and the environment. Unfortunately, only about 17% of electronic waste is properly disposed of, according to the latest figures by the World Health Organization. And by 2050, the United Nations predicts that this waste will more than double to reach roughly 111 million metric tons each year.

The good news is that there’s something you can do—embrace green tech habits. Take it from us. We’ve done it, and it’s been good for business and good for the environment. From keeping tech out of landfills to reducing our packaging, here at Asurion, we’re helping to create a more sustainable future for everyone all over the world.

Let’s talk reusable tech—not trash

The most sustainable device is the one that you already own. Making a new smartphone, for example, requires 440 pounds of raw materials, including 50 different elements. That’s why we repurpose 99% of the devices people have sent to us, breathing new life into 138 million phones. Doing so keeps the tech you rely on in your hands—and out of landfills.

Another sustainable step we’ve taken makes it easier to recycle your tech. Today, people can bring their old, outdated, or unwanted devices to a local uBreakiFix® by Asurion or Asurion Tech Repair & Solutions™ store and our experts will route them to a Samsung®-authorized recycling partner to be refurbished or transformed into raw materials that can be reused. We accept devices from any manufacturer, from cell phones, laptops, and tablets to printers, speakers, and chargers. Sorry landfills—this tech is not for you.

We pack light because there’s no planet B

We’ve also redesigned our packaging, cutting costs and saving hundreds of trees every year by eliminating our need for more than 90 tons of materials—the equivalent in weight of a blue whale

With solutions like this, we’ve reduced our carbon footprint by 26% over the last 5 years while maintaining the quality and efficiency customers expect from Asurion.

Home green home

Our greener path goes beyond the devices we repair—it’s a value reflected at our Nashville headquarters, where we have composted 33,000 pounds of food and use almost exclusively green cleaning solutions.

Our headquarters is also LEED Gold® certified, meaning it saves money, improves efficiency, lowers carbon emissions, and creates a healthier place for people to spend their time.

At Asurion, we strive to be simple, helpful, and human, and that means taking care of our planet, one device at a time.
